My child is preparing for an exam. Which exam boards is Atom Nucleus suitable for?

Atom Nucleus is designed to support preparation for all major 11 plus exam boards, including CEM, GL and ISEB as well as school and county-specific entrance tests.

Atom’s Exam Preparation Plus subscription also gives you and your child access to unlimited mock tests that mirror all major exams in terms of content, format and scoring. As well as 11 plus resources, Year 6 students can also access unlimited SATs mock tests.

How many mock tests can my child access?

With Atom’s Exam Preparation Plus subscription, your child can attempt multiple mock tests and will see completely different questions in every attempt. This means that no two mock tests are identical.

Mock tests are not available on our Core Curriculum or Exam Prep packages.

How old should a child be to use Atom Nucleus?

Atom Nucleus is designed for children in Years 3 to 6 (aged 7 to 12). The content on the platform is mapped to the national curriculum for these year groups. Atom Nucleus is also designed to support students with all major 11 plus exams/senior school entry exams.

My child needs support with maths, English and science. Is Atom Nucleus suitable?

Yes – our Core Curriculum package is designed to help support children in Years 3 to 6 with maths, English and science. For £9.99 per month, your child will be able to access unlimited, tailored practice questions across the Key Stage 2 curriculum in these core subjects.

Is Atom tailored to my child’s age?

Yes – the content and features on Atom Nucleus are all designed for children aged 7 to 12. The platform uses adaptive technology which means that questions are displayed at an optimal level of difficulty for your child – helping them to stay stretched and challenged without becoming demotivated.

Do I need to help my child when they’re working on Atom Nucleus?

No – your child should work through Atom’s learning activities independently. Not only will the platform adapt to their ability in each subject, but you can track their progress at any time from your Parent Portal.

Atom Nucleus is designed for children aged 7 to 12 to use and navigate with ease. Our adaptive algorithm means that your child will be taken on a bespoke learning journey that is personalised to their strengths and weaknesses. Each question includes links to teacher-written help sheets and videos to support your child if they get stuck.

We encourage parents to use the Parent Portal to check their child’s attainment and set custom practices to help maximise their child’s progress. This is easy to do at the click of a button.

What do Atom Learning Points do?

Your child will earn Atom Learning Points (ALPs) when they answer questions correctly on Nucleus. For every question they answer correctly, your child will earn between 2-8 ALPs. The more difficult the question, the more ALPs they will earn.

Each week, Nucleus gives your child personalised ALP targets. Targets change depending on their age, attainment level, and time left until their exam (if you've provided this information).

Meeting the weekly ALP target is the most efficient way to make sure your child’s learning is on track, whether preparing for an exam or looking to get ahead by the end of the academic year.

What is Atom’s approach to inclusivity?

At Atom, we are dedicated to creating inclusive content that meets international standards for Culturally Responsive Education.

The educational content on Atom Nucleus represents the diversity of the world we live in. The questions, examples and illustrations reflect different cultures and ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, and types of families.

Atom Nucleus is safe to be used by children independently. All questions and scenarios are designed to be age appropriate and relevant.
