Scholarships
North Bridge House Senior Hampstead offers a range of scholarships at 11 plus entry. The deadline for scholarship applications is the same as the main school registration deadline, and scholarship interviews are then held in January 2024. Children can only apply for one scholarship category.
Academic: children who excel in the initial entry assessment are invited to sit for either a single or a double academic scholarship. They will be invited to additional assessments in maths, English, or both.
Computer science: for passionate and talented students who demonstrate excellent computational thinking and programming skills. Candidates meet the Head of Computer Science and are assessed on how they are going to solve a problem, and will have the chance to talk about their experiences in programming.
Creative arts: for students who exhibit a high level of artistic skill and creativity. Candidates meet the Head of Art and are assessed on a portfolio of their work, with particular focus on their drawing skill, creative thought, use of a variety of media, and interest in contemporary and historical movements.
Music: for dedicated and talented musicians. Candidates are invited to spend a morning with the Music Department, playing with others and discussing any groups, concerts or performances they've been involved in, and their musical grade achievements.
Performing arts: for students with a dedication to acting, directing, performing or other theatre roles. Candidates are asked to perform a 1–2 minute dialogue from a published play for the Head of Drama.
Sports: exceptional athletes are invited to apply. Candidates meet with the Head of PE to discuss their sporting experience and take part in a practical lesson.

1. Prospectus and school visit
Request a school prospectus by filling in the form here. Open events are a great opportunity to see the school in action, speak to senior leadership and admissions teams and hear from current pupils. You can book open events and smaller guided tours throughout the academic year via the school website.
2. 11 plus registration
Apply for a place at North Bridge House Senior Hampstead through their online admissions portal. Applications close in November each year (while your child is in Year 6). At this stage, you will need to pay a non-refundable registration fee of £150.
3. 11 plus assessment and interview
Your child will be invited to attend an interview and assessment day in December 2023 (while they are in Year 6).
North Bridge House Senior Hampstead's 11 plus test is a bespoke adaptive assessment taken on a tablet or computer. It's designed to be accessible, challenging and enjoyable for all children. The test includes questions across a range of subjects:
English
Maths
Verbal reasoning
Non-verbal reasoning
The questions are adaptive, becoming more difficult or less difficult depending on how your child is performing. Adaptive testing helps to ensure children see questions at the right difficulty level for them, so all candidates are stretched but not to the point where it becomes demotivating.

Top tips to prepare for entry to North Bridge House Senior Hampstead
Here are our top tips to help your child prepare for the selection process.
It can be tempting to jump straight into practice papers to prepare for school exams. However, this is not an effective way to learn and can cause children to feel demotivated.
Your child should have a good understanding of the content they’ve been taught in Year 5 before testing their knowledge with practice papers. Using a ‘little and often’ approach when recapping content is key, as our brains encode new information more effectively when dealing with smaller ‘chunks’ of information. Experts recommend study sessions should last no longer than 30 minutes for children aged 10–11.
