How and when to apply to Nonsuch High School for Girls

Online registration to register for the Nonsuch High School for Girls entrance test opens on 1st May 2022 via the school website. Registrations are open until midnight on Friday 5th August 2022. There is an earlier deadline of 17th June 2022 for submissions of special adjustments for applicants with SEN, and for supporting evidence.

A Common Application Form from the Local Authority (LA) where the applicant lives must also be completed. The date for this will be set by the LA, but it is usually the October of Year 6.

When is the Nonsuch High School 11 plus exam taken?

After applying for a place at the school, applicants will sit the first stage test, the Selective Eligibility Test (SET) on Tuesday 13th September 2022.

All girls who reach the required standard in the SET will be invited to sit the second stage test on Saturday 1st October 2022.

When do 11 plus results come out?

You will find out your child's 11 plus results in mid to late September, in time for invitations to sit the second stage test on 1st October.

For children who meet the testing standard, parents can list their chosen grammar schools in order of preference on the Common Application Form. For children who do not pass, parents can produce an order of preference from non-selective schools, or select grammar schools for the appeal process in March.

In March, you will be informed whether your child has been offered a place at their first-choice school, or given information regarding the appeals process.

Nonsuch High School entrance exam format

Nonsuch High School for Girls uses the Sutton Selective Eligibility Test (SET) for their first stage of entrance testing. The SET is made up of two papers, both consisting of multiple-choice questions:

  1. English (40-50 minutes)

  2. Maths (40-50 minutes)

These papers are based on the Key Stage 2 national curriculum and do not include verbal reasoning or non-verbal reasoning questions.

Students who pass the SET are then required to take an additional School Admission Standard test which is written by the school itself. This consists of two written papers in English and maths (no multiple-choice questions).
