Lancaster Girls' Grammar School 11 plus: a parents' guide for 2022

Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School was founded in 1907 at the Storey Institute with 73 girls. It has a record of high achievement – in 2021, the school was ranked the 39th most successful state school nationally in the Sunday Times Parent Power table and the only state school in the county of Lancashire to be in the top 50. For this reason, the school is heavily oversubscribed.

Pupils study a broad curriculum, with all Year 7 pupils studying three Modern Foreign Languages. Girls are encouraged to develop resilience and be challenged; there is no gender stereotyping, evident in the fact that Maths, Biology and Chemistry are the most popular subjects taken at A level.

Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School has consistently been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
