Inside Atom’s KS2 Science Curriculum

Science

Only one month has passed since Atom Learning added the KS2 Science Curriculum to its platform, but the results are clear. Primary school children across the UK love to learn about science, having answered 100,000 KS2 science questions on Atom in the first week alone!

Atom’s KS2 Science questions, videos and help sheets are geared to both the National Curriculum, as well as the ISEB syllabus. That makes science on Atom the best tool to prepare your child for their KS2 science exams, and maximise long-term learning.

Set out across beautiful virtual worlds, and using Atoms leading AI-driven approach to online learning, KS2 science has never looked so good! The huge number of questions answered so far speaks for itself but read on to find out what makes Atom’s KS2 science curriculum ‘industry leading’.

Matching the Primary Science Curriculum

When you’re not carrying out your own science experiments at home, the best place to learn is on Atom. The Content and Curriculum Team worked hard to ensure that every question and resource created is in line with the National Curriculum KS2 Science (and the ISEB) syllabus, helping your child to excel in their KS2 or 11+ Science exams.

That means everything, from vocabulary and question difficulty to the journey that students take through KS2 science topics, has been designed to match the primary science curriculum. We used the vast experience base within the team, but also worked closely with teachers, educators and KS2 science experts to make sure everything is spot on!

The thousands of hand made KS2 science questions on Atom cover every part of the National Curriculum and ISEB syllabi. This means your child can test their knowledge of biology, physics, chemistry and working scientifically!

Exploring Virtual Worlds

Within each subject, topics are tested across a comprehensive range of different question types. Where these questions match the National Curriculum for content, they look and feel a whole lot different! They’re all bright, visually appealing, and engaging, and we’ve even handwritten explanations for each question to lay out important KS2 science knowledge in a clear, helpful way.

In practice, children journey through different virtual worlds and progress by answering questions based on KS2 science topics. In comparison to paper exams, we think this is a much better way to learn! The goal was to create learning resources that both support exam preparation, but also provide a virtual learning environment that stimulates curiosity and maximises learning.

Not only this, but Atom’s adaptive learning ensures that your child is always being challenged at the right level. This means that children that show a great understanding of the KS2 science curriculum can even be challenged with KS3 material!

10,000 questions answered every day

It is certainly clear that there is nothing stopping children from working their way through all of our KS2 Science questions. On average, over 600 unique children answer science questions on Atom daily and work their way through the KS2 science curriculum. This translates to about 10,000 questions being answered every day!

When it comes to subjects, there are some clear favourites. One topic (or atom, as well like to call them) that has had plenty of attention is ‘Life Cycles of Plants and Animals', which has had almost 30,000 question responses itself. This KS2 biology atom explores the different stages that animals and plants go through - so children will need to know their germination from their gestation!

‘Properties of Materials’, a chemistry atom, is also proving popular. Over 20,000 questions have been answered, testing students on their knowledge of waterproof materials, magnetism and much more. These are just two examples; we have loved seeing the breadth of the KS2 science curriculum being explored on our platform!
