Ibstock Place is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 4–18 located on the edge of Richmond Park in Roehampton, South West London.
Ibstock Place School aims to set conditions which enable its pupils to excel through the concentration of four ‘Cs’: the provision of a dynamic and forward-thinking curriculum; a warm and inclusive culture; a beautiful and stimulating context and a longstanding and profound commitment to co-education.
There are plenty of co-curricular opportunities on offer for pupils at Ibstock Place School, with activities in art and design, dance, drama, music, sports and PE and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. There is a wide variety of clubs, including debating societies, Raspberry Pi and robotics club, sound recording club and a TechFuture club for girls.
Pupils achieve excellent academic results at Ibstock Place School. In 2021, 86% of GCSE entries were graded at A*/A or 9/8/7 and 43% of GCSEs were the very top grade of 9 alone. Meanwhile, 90.5% of A level grades were A*–B.

The termly fees for 2022-23 at Ibstock Place School are £7,940. These include the charges for lunch and a pupil’s personal accident insurance. Ibstock Place School has a limited number of bursaries (financial assistance) available to families whose children meet the academic criteria for selection, and who demonstrate financial need in order to send their children to the school. Bursaries may range from 10% to 100% fee remission. Application forms can be obtained from the bursar and must be returned by Friday 2nd December 2022.
Most scholarships at Ibstock Place School are only available for candidates at 13 plus entry. However, the school does offer The Richard Hastie-Smith Music Award to 11 plus candidates who demonstrate outstanding music potential. This runs for two years (subject to satisfactory performance while the pupil is at school) and includes free individual tuition on a nominated instrument.

If you are interested in registering your child for Year 7 entry in 2023 at Ibstock Place School, you will need to complete the online registration form before Monday 31st October 2022 and pay the non-refundable registration fee of £160. You will additionally need to complete the examination entry form by the same date. If you are applying for a bursary, you will be able to obtain the application form from the bursar from 1st October 2022 – this will need to be returned by Friday 2nd December.
All 11 plus applicants to Ibstock Place School will take a computer-based CAT test and a learning workshop on Saturday 26th November 2022. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to sit the 11 plus written entrance papers at Ibstock Place School on Friday 9th December 2022.
Candidates who are applying for The Richard Hastie-Smith Music Award are encouraged to contact the Director of Music at Ibstock Place School to arrange an informal ‘pre-audition’ in the autumn term. Shortlisted candidates will then take an assessment in early January. These awards may only be made to candidates who reach the qualifying academic standard in the 11 plus entrance exam.
Ibstock Place School makes its offers dependent on the child’s performance in the computer-based test, the learning workshop, the written entrance exam and a confidential reference requested from the candidate’s current headteacher. Offers will be made approximately five weeks after the formal examinations (late January to early February 2023).
There are two rounds of assessment for applicants to Ibstock Place School:
All candidates will take a computer-based CAT test and participate in a Learning Workshop at Ibstock Place School on Saturday 26th November 2022. The computer-based test assesses children’s cognitive ability and is set and marked externally.
Candidates who reach a sufficient standard in the first test are then shortlisted and invited to the main 11 plus exam at Ibstock Place School on Friday 9th December 2022. This includes two papers in English and maths, both of which are based on the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum. Ibstock Place School does not issue past or sample papers for these.
