There are 45-50 places for boys to join in Year 9. There are 40 places available for Year 7 entry and a further 10-15 places available for entry at Year 12.

Open Days

Throughout the year The school organises open days in the autumn term, as well as several visitor mornings with the headmaster. Parents are advised to book a visit through their website.

School Examinations

Autumn term of Year 6All applicants are required to take the ISEB Common Pre-Tests, either at their current school or at an approved centre. Results will be assessed alongside a reference from the applicant's headteacher. These references should include a prediction for performance in the Pre-Tests.

Other Assessments and Interviews

February of Year 6 Candidates who have performed well at the Pre-Tests will be invited for an interview at the school. This will be a one-to-one interview discussing the candidates' academic and personal interests as well as their achievements.


Spring term of Year 6 Results from the Pre-Tests, headteacher’s report and assessment day will be considered and offers will be sent to parents. For those who are not successful, or for those who missed the normal entry procedure, there is a further opportunity to apply for an occasional place assessment, which consists of assessments in maths and English; places will be decided in September of Year 8.

Summer term of Year 8 Offers from this school are conditional on candidates passing their Common Entrance exams.
