There are 185-190 places girls and boys to join in Year 9. There are a further 40-50 places for entrance at Year 12, and a handful of places for entrance at Year 10.
throughout the year The school organises various events and Visitors Days, which usually take place on Saturdays. There are also Master's Lodge Receptions, which are smaller and more intimate. Parents are advised to book these, or individual visits, by contacting the admissions office either by phone or email.

Autumn term of Year 6All applicants are required to take The ISEB Common Pre-Tests, either at their current school or at an approved centre. Results will be assessed alongside a reference from the applicant's head teacher.
January/February of Year 6 Candidates who have performed well at the Pre-test will be invited for an Assessment Day at Wellington. This will consist of a series of collaborative, problem-solving activities and also an interview with a senior member of staff.
March of Year 6 Results from the Pre-test, Head's report and Assessment Day will be considered and offers for places at the school or on the waiting list will be sent to parents.
March of Year 8 Candidates must be prepared to go to Wellington College for three days of assessments. They will participate in Harkness group discussions and interviews. They will also sit exams in English, maths, science, Latin, French, history, geography and a general paper. There are optional papers in Greek, German and Spanish.
Summer term of Year 8Offers are conditional on candidates achieving an average of at least 65% across core and supporting subjects at Common Entrance.
