There are 179 places for boys to enter St Paul's school in Year 9, half of whom will join from St Paul's Juniors, their prep school. In addition to this, there are approximately 20 places available for boys joining in Year 12. There are opportunities to enter St. Paul's Juniors at Year 3, Year 4 or Year 7.

October of Year 5 – 1st of September of Year 6Parents should get in contact with the school directly to ask for a registration form.
Autumn term of Year 6All applicants are required to take the ISEB Common Pre-Tests, preferably at their current school, but it is possible to take them at St Paul's. Results will be assessed alongside a report from the boy's headteacher.
January – July of Year 6 Candidates who have performed well at the Pre-Tests will be invited for an interview at St Paul's. While there, they will sit two 20-minute papers in English and in maths. After this, there will be a 20-minute interview conducted by a senior member of staff, who will talk to them about their academic studies.
Within 3 weeks of interview Performance from the Pre-Tests, headteacher’s report and interview will be considered and offers sent to parents. Some will be offered a place on the main list, where places are assured conditional upon continued academic progress and good conduct at their current school. These must be accepted by the end of Year 7. Others may be offered a place on the reserve list, which will be reviewed early in Year 8, once the deadline for the main list has passed.
May of Year 8Academic scholarships are only available to those with a place on the main list. Compulsory papers are set in English, history, geography, Latin, French, maths, science and theology & philosophy, as well as an optional paper in Greek.
Summer term of Year 8Those who have entry offers for 2019 and 2020 are still conditional upon achieving an average of 70% at Common Entrance. From 2021 onwards, no specific grade will be required.
