There are 140 places for boys to enter Radley in Year 9. There are also limited places for boys to enter at Year 12.
throughout Years 5 and 6 Events and Open Mornings are organised by the school. You can to book visit by calling the Admissions Office and parents are advised to visit before February of Year 6.
final deadline – October of Year 6 Most applicants will use the ‘Open Entry' process. For open entry, parents should download an entry form from the school website and submit it any time between June of Year 5 and October of Year 6: https://www.radley.org.uk/admissions/13-entry/2021-open-entry-uk. Some children, who have been registered at an early age, may be on the Radley List. This process is almost identical to Open Entry, but the Admissions Day is not necessary. The Radley List is no longer in use for those who are registering now.
Autumn term of Year 6 All applicants are required to take The ISEB Common Pre-Tests, either at the prep school or at an approved centre. Results will be assessed alongside a reference from the applicant's head teacher.
May of Year 6 Candidates who have performed well at the Pre-test will be invited for an Assessment Day at Radley. Boys will have a 30-minute interview, as well as a written assessment. They will also visit two Socials (boarding houses) with their parents.
June of Year 6 Results from the Pre-test, Head's report and Assessment Day will be considered and offers sent to parents. Boys may be placed on the A List, which is an unconditional offer for entry, or on the B List, which is a waiting list. The school usually manages to reach a good number of those on the B List.
January – February of Year 8 The academic scholarship has two stages. Stage One is sat at the current school and consists of a 2-hour English exam and a 1-hour maths exam. Papers are created specifically for Radley and will be sent to the boy's current school beforehand. Though who perform well in Stage 1 will be invited to Radley for Stage 2, which consists of compulsory exams in science, maths, French, and a choice of history, geography or RS, as well as optional papers in Greek and German/Spanish. These take place over two days
Summer term of Year 8 Boys will sit the Common Entrance for setting purposes only; offers do not require achieving a certain grade.
