Alleyn's no longer operates a formal entry point at Year 9, but do operate an ‘occasional vacancy list', based on availability. Most applicants apply for entrance in Year 7, where there are 150 places for girls and boys. There are also places available for entry in Year 12.

January of Year 8All applicants are required to take tests commissioned by Alleyn's. The results will be assessed alongside a reference from the applicant's school about progress and potential. Candidates will be asked to sit school-specific assessments in:
January – February of Year 8Candidates who perform well in these examinations will be invited back to the school for interviews; this will consist of one individual and one group interview. Candidates will be asked about their interests in and out of school.
February – March of Year 8These will be made in the weeks following interview and are decided by a selection committee consisting of the headmaster and other senior staff members.
Scholarships and bursaries will be awarded based on performance in the school assessments and will be decided by a selection committee consisting of the headmaster and other senior staff members.
Offers from Alleyn's School do not require applicants to achieve a certain grade at Common Entrance.
